A Proven Winner Returns: Jevan Leyh Joins Sláinte Athletic
Experience. Leadership. Versatility.
Few signings bring all three the way Jevan Leyh does. After years competing at the top of local semi-professional soccer—and a brief cameo with Sláinte during the 2024 DMV Summer Copa—Leyh returns to the club for the Spring 2025 MSSL Division II campaign. And while this might be a new chapter, it’s hardly unfamiliar territory. A mainstay at Das Bierhalle FC, Leyh has lifted the BCRP title multiple times, won the prestigious Morton Cup, and been a core part of a squad that went undefeated in the Fall 2024 MSSL Division I regular season. Before that? He earned promotion from Division II. Simply put—where Jevan plays, success tends to follow.
His short stint with Sláinte came during the 2024 DMV Summer Copa, where he tallied an assist in three group stage appearances—including the now-famous 5–4 comeback win over Ittihad FC. Even then, it was clear his game was built on discipline, sharp decision-making, and a willingness to compete no matter the moment. Leyh brings more than accolades—he brings adaptability. While best known as a center back, he’s comfortable across the entire backline and can step into a holding midfield role when needed. That flexibility, paired with his leadership presence, makes him a uniquely valuable addition to a squad already pushing for promotion. He’s also no stranger to the players around him. A Stevenson University Men’s Soccer alum, Leyh shared the field with current Sláinte standouts Drew Meyers, BP Seivers, and Kristian Slaby. The chemistry is already there—the competitive fire already proven.
For Jevan, this return is about more than just soccer. It’s about leadership. It’s about belonging.
Having grown up alongside many of the current players—and sharing a college pitch with several—he saw an opportunity not just to rejoin, but to guide. “The biggest thing for me was the capability to come in and lead a team,” he said. “It’s a great group of guys I’ve known for a long time. I knew I could help push this team toward promotion.”
His mentality was forged not in trophy lifts, but in adversity—especially during his junior year of college, when he was repeatedly told he wasn’t good enough. “It forced me to grind,” he explained. “To trust the process and work harder. I’ve always believed God gives His toughest battles to His strongest soldiers.” That mindset has served him well. From the Morton Cup to multiple BCRP championships and an undefeated run in MSSL Division I, Jevan knows what separates good teams from great ones. “It’s about adaptability. Mentality. Willingness to put your body on the line when it matters most,” he said. “When it’s all or nothing—that’s when winning teams rise.”
His brief time with Sláinte during the Summer Copa left a lasting impression. “It showed me what this club was about,” he said. “The commitment, the culture, the drive to compete at the highest level—it was all there. That experience definitely pulled me back in.” Now, with the ability to slot in at center back, fullback, or as a 6, he returns as both a leader and a Swiss army knife. “I’m here to lead from the back, organize the field, and keep us composed when the pressure hits. I’ve played center back my whole life, but I’m comfortable anywhere I’m needed.”
