Starting XI: Sláinte Athletic vs. Peru United

Matchday One is here.

The 2025 Spring MSSL Division II campaign kicks off this afternoon at 3 PM as Sláinte Athletic faces off against rivals Peru United—and the squad is locked in.

With the Burbridge-Mooney era officially underway, today’s lineup reflects not just tactical adjustments, but a new direction and identity for this club. A blend of returning veterans, reimagined roles, and thrilling new additions headlines the team sheet for our season opener.

Starting XI

GK – Kristian Slaby

The veteran keeper returns to command the backline—composed, vocal, and ready for another campaign of clutch moments.

DEF – Drew Meyers | Logan Funk | Francio Henry | Iliass Zouita

• A solid and physical back four, full of grit and experience.

• The big change? Logan Funk, who transitions from leading striker last season to center back under the new regime. It’s a bold call by Burbridge and Mooney, a move born from both tactical vision and necessity, as Adam Ramos could be facing time away due to injury.

Henry and Zouita bring strength and discipline, while Meyers offers pace and composure out wide.

MID – BP Seivers | Danny Hallowell (C)

• Seivers has rapidly become the heartbeat of this midfield—a breakout talent ready to dictate the rhythm.

• Next to him, Captain Danny Hallowell leads by example. Fresh off an impressive Morton Cup campaign and preseason goal, he’ll be expected to anchor the center of the pitch.

WING – Isaac Ngobu | Arlie Hitt

• Ngobu offers creativity and movement on the ball. Capable of turning defenders inside out.

• Hitt stretches the field and thrives in 1v1 moments—look for him to attack space early and often.

FWD – Andres Perez | Leland Brigham (official debut)

Perez, back from injury, showed flashes of brilliance in the Morton Cup and preseason—now fully fit, he’s a technical threat with a nose for goal.

Brigham, making his official debut, is a powerhouse forward—relentless in his runs, tough in the tackle, and hungry to lead the line. He’s been electric in every appearance so far. This is his moment.

Matchday Bench

Mark McDonough | Evan Novian | Ryan Cummings | Sam Dragunas (debut)

Iddriss Iddriss | Aki Maja (debut) | Dylan Burruss

Dragunas, a new signing with strength and presence, is set to make his first appearance. His physicality could be pivotal in seeing out a result late.

Maja, another exciting debutant, is a pacey and technically gifted winger who offers a completely different dynamic in wide areas—expect him to cause problems if unleashed.

Iddriss provides versatility up front and could be a spark off the bench.

Burruss, ever-reliable, brings composure and experience to the final third.

McDonough, Novian, and Cummings round out a bench full of defensive security and depth.

Final Word

Peru United brings quality and history to this match—but this Sláinte squad is different. There’s purpose in the press, identity in the buildup, and steel in every position. A new system, new leadership, and new energy are all ready to be put to the test.
