2024 DMV Silver Copa: Into the Fire
The 2025 Summer DMV Silver Copa marked a new chapter—Sláinte Athletic’s first steps into the world of semi-professional soccer. A tougher stage. A faster pace. And no room for mistakes.
We entered the competition with a sharpened mindset and a few fresh faces—including the key addition of Drew Meyers, who brought grit and versatility to the side. Across three group stage matches, we went toe-to-toe with some of the DMV’s most competitive squads, finishing with a hard-earned 1-1-1 record, and 5 goals scored.
The moment that defined the tournament?
A chaotic, last-minute 5-4 win over Ittihad FC—ninety minutes of back-and-forth madness, capped off with a Sláinte dagger at the death. A match that tested every ounce of heart, composure, and will to win.
Gavin Mooney led the way in goals, with assists coming from across the team—a sign of the squad’s growing chemistry and cohesion.
In the end, our Copa run ended on goal differential, narrowly missing the knockout stage. But for a club entering the semi-pro spotlight for the first time, it was a campaign that proved we belong—and that we’re only getting started.
